Online Mediation
At Life Mediation, we understand that face-to-face mediation isn’t always possible or ideal. That’s why we offer professional, efficient, and compassionate online mediation services—a flexible alternative that brings resolution within reach, no matter where you are.
Our online mediation allows you to engage in a neutral, guided process from the comfort of your own space, making it especially suitable when:
- The parties live in different locations.
- There are sensitivities that make meeting in person challenging.
- A practical, cost-effective, and timely resolution is needed without the stress of attending court.
With online mediation, you can regain control of your situation, reduce conflict, and achieve positive outcomes—all with the guidance of our experienced team, led by Lisanne Iriks.

The Online Mediation Process
1. Call, email or fill out a form.
To begin the online mediation process, you can call us (08) 6219 3679 , email us at admin@lifemediation.com.au or fill out a form. This form asks for a brief description of the issues in dispute and the concerns you would like addressed during mediation. Providing this information upfront helps us understand your situation and prepare for a productive session.
2. Life Mediation will contact you within 48 hours
Once your application is submitted, one of our team members will contact you normally within that working day or otherwise within 24 hours to make your appointment for your intake session.
3. Intake Session
The intake session is a private meeting between you and one of our mediators Karen or Lisanne, without the other party present. This session allows us to gather more detailed information about your situation and answer any questions you may have. The mediator will also prepare you for the upcoming joint session, ensuring you are ready to participate effectively. During the intake session, the mediator will assess whether online mediation is the best approach for your circumstances. The other party will be invited to attend their own private intake session.
4. Schedule Mediation
If online mediation is deemed appropriate, the next step is to schedule a joint session between you and the other party. This session can be arranged at a time that is convenient for both parties, allowing flexibility in scheduling.
5. Joint Mediation Session
The joint mediation session is conducted via online video or telephone conference, bringing together the mediator and both parties to discuss the issues at hand. We can also facilitate shuttle mediation via zoom which means you do not speak to your ex-partner in the session and the mediator goes between the two virtual breakout rooms. This session is the core of the online mediation process, where the mediator facilitates communication and helps both parties work towards a mutually agreeable resolution. For those located in Perth, the option for face-to-face sessions is also available, depending on your preference.
If you are located in Perth, these sessions may be held face-to-face if you prefer
Benefits of Online Mediation
Online mediation offers several advantages over traditional in-person mediation. It provides a comfortable and private environment for discussing sensitive issues, without the need to travel or arrange childcare. We do request that children are not able to hear or be involved in your intake or mediation session. The flexibility of the online format means that sessions can be scheduled at times that suit both parties. Additionally, online mediation is often more cost-effective, as it reduces expenses related to travel and venue hire.
Life Mediation’s online mediation process is designed to ensure that you get the most out of your mediation experience. The ability to participate from your own home can reduce the stress often associated with in-person meetings, allowing you to focus on resolving the issues at hand. Whether you are dealing with a separation, divorce, or another family-related dispute, online mediation provides a practical and effective solution. In the event that there has been abuse in a relationship online mediation is safer options as you do not have to be in the same building as your ex-partner.
